Universal Mother:
Recent discoveries reveal that the mitochondrial DNA in
all humans is inherited from one common female ancestor in Africa
approximately 200,000 years ago. We have a Universal Mother. Hu Vibrational's
visit with the spirit of our Universal Mother illuminates what it means
to belong
to the one race, the human race, whose mother we all share. The music
on
this recording is an offering of gratitude to her. It echoes her call
to us, her
children, to recognize each other as the sisters and brothers we are,
and to
treat another as we would wish to be treated — with loving kindness
and
compassion.
Handmade: Every instrument played on
our recordings was made by
hand. Gourds, bamboo, wood, trees, rattan, clay, recycled bicycle spokes,
sand, seeds, and skin are creatively combined to make unique musical
instruments. If we listen, each instrument will teach us to play itself.
When
our minds and hearts are open, we move aside to assist the instrument
in
the telling of its story.
Boonghee Music: Boonghee music is dance.
The feeling of the dance
is how the butterfly desires the flower. A thousand crickets give the
rhythm.
Birds and wind offer melodies of call and response. The dance is your
imagination. Your movements are freedom.
